Hyperbole is a figure of speech in which statements are exaggerated to create an impact and are not supposed to be taken literally.

My eyes widened at the sight of the mile-high ice cream cone.

These books weigh a ton.

I could sleep for a year.

I could eat a horse right now.

He is older than Methuselah.

I will die if she asks me to dance.

She is as big as an elephant!

He's been around so long that he served at the Last Supper.

My home town is so small, if you blink you will miss it.
