Example of a Limerick Poem

There was an old man from Peru
Who found a large fly in his stew
Said the waiter 'Don't shout
and wave it about
Or the rest will be wanting one too.'

There once was a clover named Kate,
Who sat on the edge of a plate,
The fancy folk dined,
On foods of all kind,
Then tossed her at quarter past eight

There was an old man from Peru,
who dreamed he was eating his shoe
He awoke in the night
with a terrible fright,
and found out that it was quite true.

There was a young man from Kent
with a leg exceedingly Bent
To save himself trouble
He walked with it double
So instead of coming he went.

There was a young lady from Spain
who was dreadfully sick on a train
not once but again,
and again and again
and again and again and again.

There was a young man from Japan
who's limericks never would scan
when they told him it was so
he said 'yes I know
but I always try and get as many words in that last line as I ever possibly can.
